Firing of pellet gun leads to 2-hour police standoff | Crime

ROCKLIN, CA - Two brothers were taken into custody and then released after a 2-hour police standoff in a Rocklin neighborhood Thursday night.

Officers responded to the 2200 block of Quarry Way, near Park Drive, around 5:30 p.m. after getting calls of a man shooting off a weapon, Lt. Lon Milka said.

SWAT Team, K9 units and EMTs responded to the area and set up a perimeter. Rocklin police used Reverse 911 to warn resident s to stay in their homes.

However, once the suspects were detained, police found that they were firing off a pellet gun. Neighbors thought the shots were fired from a real gun and then called police.

The incident escalated into a 2-hour standoff because police thought a weapon might be in the home and the two men did not respond to call to come out.

Police said the investigation into the case will continue, but residents can consider the area safe.

In early July, police raided the home, serving a search warrant. According to several neighbors, police said they were there to arrest the men's father, but he was already in custody in Arizona for an unknown charge.
