DOJ: Roseville accountant arrested for tax fraud | Crime
SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento area accountant accused of forging documents to get $4 million was arrested by the California Department of Justice Wednesday.
Larry Harmon, president of Larry Harmon & Associates, is accused of forging signatures of bank officers on defaulted vehicle loans to get a tax refund from the California Board of Equalization (BOE), the DOJ said.
Thousands of tax refund requests were filed on behalf of Larry Harmon & Associates for defaulted vehicle loans, which were originally financed by Premier Capital Finance. The filed documents would have defrauded the BOE of $4 million
The California Attorney General's Special Crime Unit was asked to investigate Harmon by the BOE in October 2012 after receiving the thousands of documents. During the investigation, the DOJ found that Harmon forged the signatures needed from a bank representative on documents.
Harmon was arrested while officers served search warrants at his Granite Bay home and Roseville office. He was booked into Sacramento County Jail for defrauding the tax board; Harmon was released on bail Wednesday night.
