SUTTER COUNTY, CA - A young man was sentenced Friday to two consecutive life sentences in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to killing the parents of his former girlfriend in 2010.
Joseph Simlick also waived his right to appeal the sentence, according to the Sutter County District Attorney's Office.
Simlick killed Jack and Sue Martin, both 46, at their home in the community of Sutter on July 30, 2010. He then set their home on fire.
At the time, relatives of the victims told investigators Simlick and the Martins' daughter, his girlfriend, had broken up and there were tensions with her parents.
