Celebrate “Something on a Stick Day” at Denio’s: 4th Annual Corn Dog Eating Contest, Wiener Dog Race

Denio’s Roseville Farmers Market & Swap Meet will be celebrating “Something on a Stick Day” by hosting its 4th Annual Corn Dog Eating Contest on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Also included in the celebration will be a fun day of wiener dog festivities organized by Roseville & Lincoln’s Long Lovers Dachshund group.

“Something on a Stick Day,” which is officially celebrated on March 28th will be celebrated at Denio’s a few days early by inviting the entire community to come watch and even participate if they’d like in a competition in which the winner will leave with the coveted Corndog Trophy and a Grand prize of $200 cash. Second prize winner will walk away with $100 cash and the 3rd place winner $50 cash. The hungriest contestant is the one that can eat the most corn dogs as possible during the four minute matchup.

Sacramento Based International Advocacy Group Puts Angels In Action

To date more than 1,000 child advocates from throughout the United States have committed to posting about National Child Abuse Prevention Month to and with over 1,000 of their social media friends,bringing the anticipated total meaningful messages displayed on the internet  about this important program to well over a million before April 1st when the tribute month officially begins.

Posts include symbols, graphics, and links to news stories, lists of how folks can become involved and other helpful information; all with a secondary message of mobilizing as many people as possible working to better protect young people.

Volunteers Invited To Help Produce Event For Youngsters with Special Needs

Face painting, cookie decorating, Valentine making, games and prizes are all on the agenda for Happy Hearts Day Saturday February 9th Noon-3 P.M. at WynSpring Family Resource Center 2755 Cottage Way #16 Sacramento,CA, 95825.

The event strives to provide festive peer interaction along with mentorship for area youngsters with special needs. Offering them a chance to engage in a variety of creative activities which also encourage them to express themselves.

Volunteers are needed to prepare foods for the lunch, make cookies and frosting, put together crafts and run game stations. Decorations and beverages also helpful.

Where: Bel Air on Arena Blvd in Natomas

Why: News10’s Monica Woods will be broadcasting live from Bel Air in North Natomas to encourage viewers to donate to hungry families in the area.

Viewers can join News10 and purchase a $10 bag of wholesome, nonperishable, fresh food and Raley’s will double the contribution to $20 benefiting local food banks. Donors can personally select where they want their donation to go, ensuring that 100% of their contribution will feed the hungry in their neighborhood.
