Backstreet Bistro Offers Lunch, Diverse Menu

Employees and visitors looking for a nearby lunch spot on the Sutter Roseville Medical Center campus have a tasty and convenient new dining option available to them. The Backstreet Bistro at the Sutter Rehabilitation Institute opened up last October, complementing the existing Sierra Oaks Café in the main hospital.

The Backstreet Bistro offers a wide array of freshly prepared grab-and go items, including salads, sandwiches, wraps, and cheese and fruit platters. The bistro also cooks up hot menu items, such as burgers and made from scratch soups and chili, and prepares a special entrée of the day. Recent daily specials have included a pasta dish, pork carnitas and lemon tilapia with wild rice.

The cafeteria-style bistro is ideal for grabbing lunch on the run, holding an informal meeting, or sitting down for a relaxing meal.

Meet Tilly a therapy dog at Sutter Roseville

Meet Tilly a therapy dog at Sutter Roseville

Tilly, a big shaggy black Newfoundland dog, ambles into Sutter Roseville Medical Center by the side of her owner and handler, Sherri Smith. The two are visiting patients in the medical center to bring some comfort and happiness to an otherwise routine medical stay.

The program is a new service within Sutter Roseville Medical Center’s Auxiliary Volunteer Services. Tilly and Sherri became members of the hospital Auxiliary in order to participate in the pet therapy program.

Five year old Tilly, who is friendly and calm, fits the criteria for a therapy dog as she does very well in strange settings.  Even so, she had to undergo training to be a therapy dog and afterward had to pass a test for certification.

Tilly began visiting patients three years ago at Ohio State University Medical Center where she was the first dog to visit patients in the medical center’s burn unit.
