Join RRUFF on Saturday, January 26 from Noon - 2:00 p.m at Pet Food Express inThe Fountains, Roseville for the first RRUFF Quarterly meeting of 2013!

  • BRING YOUR POOCH, TOO!!  There will be doggie & people treats for you to enjoy 
  •  Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital will present a free seminar on "Proper Dental Care For Your Dog" 
  • The RRUFF Board of Directors will present an update  on the dog park plans for 2013 and beyond
  • The 2012 RRUFF Volunteeer of the Year Award  will be presented to that special person who worked so tirelessly during the year on our behalf.
  • Q & A Session

You will have a chance to have your questions answered and to give us your ideas for future enhancements to your dog park located in Johnson-Springview Park at 5480 5th Street in Rocklin.

Blind pug robbed by diabetes struggles for surgery

SACRAMENTO, CA -- A Sacramento pug rescue group is reaching out to animal lovers in hopes of providing a much needed surgery for one of their precious pugs.  

Eight year-old Mija (Mee-ha) is a playful pug who loves to snuggle. She was rescued by PugSavers, a Northern California pug rescue group, after her owner, who loved her dearly couldn't afford special care for her diabetes. Mija's foster family has been taking great care of her until she finds her forever home, but recently her condition has worsened causing blindness in both of her eyes. 

It has been recommended by a specialist that both of Mija's eyes be removed to help with her diabetes and alleviate what has now become a painful condition.

Socialization and your Dog

Socialization should involve as many people and situations as possible. Introduce your puppy to a wide variety of people, including men, women, children of all ages, people in wheelchairs, men with beards, and people wearing all kinds of clothing; sunglasses etc.   Before your puppy has gotten all of his vaccinations, you can begin to socialize him by inviting people to your home to meet him.

Did you know when the right time is to Socialize your dog?   As early as possible.   Dogs as young as 3-4 months old (once they have had all their shots of course) is a wonderful time to start socializing your dog. 

Great socialization will help your dog with the following:

  • Good Manners
  • Friendly with dogs and new people
  • Confidence
  • Moral
  • Resilience
  • Happiness

Placer SPCA named 'Best Local Charity'

ROSEVILLE - Placer SPCA, the source for local companion animal welfare expertise, has been chosen as Best Local Charity by voters of the KCRA A-List. 

Voting took place between March 28 and May 18 by visitors to the A-List page of KCRA.com, and the winner in the Best Local Charity category was announced on Tuesday, May 24. Placer SPCA competed with 105 other local charities in the Best Local Charity category.

“Our supporters feel very strongly about the job we do,” said Placer SPCA CEO Leilani Vierra.
