Photo Gallery | First graders create giant sea turtle for charity

LOOMIS – First graders at Franklin Elementary School in Loomis have been working hard to help save the sea turtle.

The 26 students along with their teachers, Mrs. Carolynn Basques and Mrs. Kathryn Leupp, spent three days creating a giant turtle out of papier mache.  The turtle, which was part of the class’s 6-week study on the Pacific Rim Islands and marine animals, is 8-feet long and 7-feet high.

They are inviting everyone to check out their sea turtle during the school’s open house on May 31 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The class is selling photos and rides on the turtle for $1.00.  All proceeds will go towards saving the sea turtle.
